In September 2019 Alessandra Stampi-Bombelli joined the Public Policy Group at ETH Zurich. She is a Ph.D. candidate and focuses on immigration and integration.
She previously studied Political Science in Rome and later obtained a M.Sc. in Economics from the University of Lausanne (HEC Lausanne). As a research intern at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), she wrote her Master thesis entitled “Labor Market Adjustments in the Aftermath of the Commodity Price Boom: Evidence from Chile". During her Master studies she also worked as a research assistant for Prof. von Ungern-Sternberg, former dean of HEC Lausanne.
Between her Master’s and her Ph.D. she was a research assistant for Kai Gehring at the University of Zurich, where she contributed to a project on the relationship between immigrant group size and integration during the age of mass migration to the US. Her research interests include machine learning, migration, public economics, and behavioral economics. Since 2019 Alessandra is funded by the NCCR – on the move grant of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).
